Painting abstracts can be more complicated than one can imagine. I attempt to block out a rough design of how I want the shapes to be applied to the canvas and yet as I begin to paint 'something' takes over and it begins to have a life of it's own. Layers upon layers of pencil lines, acrylic paint, and laytex paint. It's like a dance. A little here, a little there. After a few hours I have to leave it. I turn it to the wall so that I cannot see it overnight. Then the next day I'm back to it with fresh eyes and the dance begins again. More layers and more layers until it tells me it's finished. Please note that the painting is shown here to hang vertically but that it can also hang as a horizontal painting. Painting is signed on the back (not on the front) so that the signature does not determine hanging direction.
